Coquitlam is working to build a high quality of life for current and future generations supported by a strong local economy and local jobs. A new Economic Development Strategy (EDS) will help us to achieve this.
As we work through the challenges and opportunities presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, the EDS will serve as a unifying and guiding roadmap, providing a clear five-year action plan that supports our local economy as well as the ongoing establishment of a complete community in order to position Coquitlam for success. The EDS will help strengthen the City’s position as a place for business and a desired quality of life.
The EDS will be developed through extensive research, analysis, and public engagement. Building upon Coquitlam’s strengths and assets, the EDS will identify challenges as well as future opportunities for the City, and engage with businesses, community organizations, youth, and First Nations, to contribute to a strategy that works for everyone. The EDS will also build on the City’s solid foundation of existing planning work, such as the City’s Strategic Plan, Official Community Plan, Technology Strategy, Tourism Strategy and many others. These and other related projects and plans can be found in the documents tab.
Our businesses and residents are the backbone of local entrepreneurship and economic vitality, and are foundational to the City’s success and livability. Your feedback is integral to this process and will help the project team craft a strategy that reflects the range of opportunities our community wants to see.
How to Get Involved
Complete the survey before June 15, 2022. Those who complete the entire survey may enter a draw for one of three $50 gift cards to a local restaurant.
Sign up to participate in one-on-one interviews. Participants will be chosen to represent a variety of local business needs and interests. Sign up is at the end of the survey or email economicdevelopment@coquitlam.ca

Our businesses and residents, like you, are foundational to the City's success and livability. With this survey we want to better understand your experiences to help us craft a strategy that reflects the opportunities our community wants to see. Because your time is precious, the survey is limited to about five minutes. At the end of the survey there is an optional space to enter your information to win one of three $50 gift cards for local food and beverages.
